Automatic dive watches: what you need to know

A dive watch is recognisable by three elements: a bezel that turns in one direction only (so you never overestimate your dive time), wide luminous markers, and genuine water resistance. In real life, 99% of these watches never dive: people wear them because they are the most legible, the toughest and the easiest to match. Day to day, the bezel is used to time a parking spot, a cooking time or a meeting. Our models are water-tested watch by watch before shipping; they handle showers, rain and swimming, without being designed for scuba diving.

Frequently asked questions

Can I swim with it?
Yes, swimming and showering are no problem. Avoid very hot water however (sauna, steam room): it is the temperature swings, not the pressure, that tire the seals.
What is the rotating bezel for?
To memorise elapsed time: you align the marker with the minute hand at the start, and read the time elapsed directly. It is useful well beyond diving.
Does the water resistance need servicing?
Seals wear out over the years. A check at a watchmaker every two to three years is more than enough for everyday use.
Is this a counterfeit?
No. No Modora watch carries the logo or name of another brand: these are homage watches in their own right, sold under our own name, with a genuine Seiko movement. Counterfeiting (fake logos) is illegal; homage watches are legal.
What about warranty and returns?
