To give a watch for Christmas 2026 without getting it wrong, three decisions are enough: a 39 mm case if you do not know his wrist, a black or blue dial on a steel bracelet if you are unsure about style, and an order placed by 30 November at the latest so that it is under the tree.
A watch is worn every day and does not go out of fashion; an automatic one does not even have a battery to change. The underlying reasons and the classic mistakes are covered in our guide how to give a watch without getting it wrong. This page focuses on what Christmas changes: delivery times, packaging and exchanges after the holidays.
This is the question that stops most buyers. There are two things to tell apart: the case diameter, chosen when ordering, and the bracelet length, which is adjusted afterwards.
For the diameter, there are three discreet clues. Look at the watch he already wears: lay it on a ruler and measure the case without the crown. Look at his wrist: if it is slim (under 16 cm), go for 36 mm; average (16 to 17.5 cm), 36 or 39 mm; broad, 39 or 41 mm. With no clue at all, take 39 mm, the size that works on almost every man’s wrist. Between two sizes, choose the smaller one.
For the bracelet, no measuring is needed if it is steel: it is shortened by removing links, with an adjustment kit or at a jeweller’s. The full measuring method is in our size guide.
Do not choose according to your own taste, but according to what he already wears.
He wears a shirt to work: a dress watch with a black, blue or white dial, a slim case and no rotating bezel.
He lives in jeans and trainers and spends his weekends outdoors: a sports watch with an integrated steel bracelet, or a dive watch.
He travels or works with people abroad: a GMT, which shows a second time zone with an extra hand.
He loves mechanics, cars and technical objects: an open-heart dial, which lets you see the movement beating.
He wears a gold wedding ring or chain: a two-tone finish, steel and gold, will match what he already owns.
And if you really do not know: a black or navy dial on a steel bracelet. It is the choice nobody finds too flashy. Avoid rare colours such as orange or purple.
Under 100 francs, you are giving an accessory: a battery movement, mineral glass that scratches, a plated case. Between 250 and 400 francs, you enter real automatic watches: a Japanese Seiko or Miyota movement, sapphire crystal, 316L stainless steel. Above 1,000 francs, you are mostly paying for a name.
Whoever the seller is, check three things: is the movement named, is the crystal sapphire, is the displayed price the final price? A parcel coming from abroad can have VAT and customs clearance fees added on delivery.
This is trap number one with December gifts: a watch assembled to order does not arrive in 48 hours. At Modora, every watch is assembled and then checked before shipping, and the product pages show an estimated delivery of 9 to 14 working days after the order.
An order placed on Monday 30 November 2026 gives an estimated delivery between 11 and 18 December. That is why we recommend ordering by 30 November 2026 at the latest. After that date, the margin before 24 December becomes too thin: carriers are very busy at the end of the year, and these times remain estimates, not guarantees.
Do not order too early either if you are counting on the right to return: the 30 days run from the day of delivery, not from Christmas. A watch received in early November can no longer be returned on 26 December. The right window is the second half of November.
All the watches below are inspired by the great classics and share the same foundation: Seiko automatic movement, sapphire crystal, 316L steel, 10 ATM water resistance. Shipping is free and the warranty is 2 years.

Giving the same model in two sizes works well at Christmas: 36 mm for her, 39 or 41 mm for him. The Seikojust models mentioned above come in all three diameters (see also our 36 mm selection). From 2 watches, a 15% discount is applied automatically in the cart (20% from 3) and the premium leather box is included free of charge, one per watch.
Every order ships carefully protected, with a bracelet adjustment kit. The premium leather box is included from 2 watches; for a single watch, plan your own wrapping paper. No amount appears in the parcel: the invoice is sent by e-mail to the buyer.
If the watch is not to his taste, you have 30 days after delivery to return it for a full refund, no reason needed. Two conditions: the watch must be unworn and in its original condition, with its accessories, and the return shipping costs are yours to pay. A practical tip: let him unwrap and look at the watch, but do not remove any links until he is sure he is keeping it. To switch to another model or diameter, write to us by e-mail or on WhatsApp.
30 November 2026 at the latest. The product pages state an estimated delivery of 9 to 14 working days, which puts delivery between 11 and 18 December for an order placed on 30 November. These times are estimates, not guarantees.
39 mm. It is the diameter that suits the vast majority of men’s wrists. The steel bracelet is then adjusted with the kit supplied.

Between 250 and 400 francs. The six Modora watches mentioned in this guide cost between 249 and 299 CHF, with free shipping.
